A dragon hatchling is quite capable of taking care of itself in only a couple of hours after birth. In fact a dragon hatching is a dangerous animal and maybe it is best if you kept you distant for such a thing.

A dragon chick would be easier, and even then you need about three hundred cows to feed it. I think every day. And you have to keep it in the fire, if it's a fire dragon. And a bunch of other stuff. Not to mention you have to keep the whole thing secret.
