There are many things you can do to help your computer out...but i will name 6...3 for the keyboard and 3 for the computer itself. Computer:
1. If you want your computer battery to last longer without a charge, either shut it down after you use it and you wont be using it for a while or put it to sleep mode. These will give your computer a chance to not have to be ready at anytime so it can wake how it wants. Think of it as the marine core. They wake you up whenever you want and you wont have your full energy and wont be able to last very long without another 4 hours of sleep, compared to if they woke you up 4 hours later. Computers are much like humans in that way.
2. Another thing to help your computer is having memory. If you are maxed on memory usage, chances are your computer is really slow. Keeping files you will use on a 1-2 day basis should stay on your computer, otherwise i recommend an external harddrive. You can store many files on these things and they are becoming cheaper and cheaper each day. You can probably find one at a local computer/Technology store near you.
3. One last thing to help your computer out is to keep it cool. This is actually another way to keep battery life longer, resulting in more time for games and typing and less time worrying about charging. My cousin was not a follower of this rule and to this day, his CPU got fried. If you do not keep your computer cooled down, you can risk loosing all your files. Now if you want to do this, try to keep the fan (either holes on the bottom or a little thing on the side of your computer near the usb drive) from getting covered and or damaged. Remember if your computer gets too hot you may risk your work that you have been working hard at for 2 weeks.
Keyboard:
1. If you want to keep your keyboard nice and clean and working properly i suggest not eating near it. When i was little, my grandma gave me a computer, and i ate around it everyday, and soon enough, the keys were breaking, and i would have to press on them harder and it was a disaster. SO keep your computer clean and id stay away from food while using a computer.
2. If you want to really get clean around your keyboard. WASH those hands of your before you use it. Some might call you crazy but hey its your money and your games/work your using your computer for so they should not be talking :). So keeping your hands clean is a big one.
3. Say your too late and your looking for Help on cleaning it, heres the post you need! If your keys can pull off, do it gently and either take an air compressor and shoot pressureized air at the keys getting hair and other food/ "things" out of it.
PCWorld states that you should Canned compressed air (available at computer and photo dealers), lint-free cloth or photographic wipes, mild liquid dishwashing detergent, vacuum cleaner with soft brush
All of the above, plus a small screwdriver (for removing keys), cotton swabs, and 90 percent isopropyl alcohol (available at any drugstore). Note: Do not use ethyl-based rubbing alcohol.
