put car on jacks perabably 24 inches high.Jack stands a must for this.Disconnect battery. Support engine with a jack with 2 x 4 under oil pan take load off engine mounts just enough to support engine but not enough to bend or dent oil pan.Drain tranny fluid out,so it wont spill in next step.Remove drive shaft, mark drive shaft ends with white chalk to line back up when reassembling.make sure all tranny lines and electrical connectors are disconnected.
disconnect bolts from transmission and support with with transmission jack stand (secure tranny to tranny jack stand, )and slowly separate tranny from engine.Lower tranny jack with tranny on it .carefully drag/wheel out jack with tranny. Now you see why you need a minimum of 24 inches so tranny will clear.one last thing, this is a long job and safety first, the tranny is HEAVY, so get some help in certain areas of this procedure. Good luck.
