It's under the throttle body housing. I'm looking for an answer on how to take the housing off to get to the thermostat
The thermostat housing is at the end of the big hose going to the radiator on top of the engine. Take the hose loose from the housing and take the 2 bolts out of the housing to replace the thermostat. REMEMBER......The spring on the thermostat always goes towards the engine.
Replacing the thermostat in a 2000 Honda CR V is very simple. The thermostat is on the right hand side of the engine. The radiator hose will need to be disconnected before the thermostat can be taken off. After the hose is off, remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing in place. Take the old thermostat out and replace with a new one.
How to take off themastate unit ..
find the top radiator hose, follow it to the motor take the housing off that the hose is connected too and the thermostat will be there remove the old one and replace with the new and replace the housing and hose
Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. The housing the hose connects to hold the thermostat. take the housing loose and remove and replace the thermostat.
Follow the upper radiator hose back towards the engine. The hose will be connected to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is under the housing. Drain off some colant, remove upper hose from thermostat housing, remove the two bolts holding the housing to the engine, remove the housing, remove the thermostat, take note that the thermostat spring faces the engine so as not to install backwards.
First locate the lower radiator hose, that hose should lead you to the thermostat housing (just behind the motor and to the left). This hose should be the same size as the top radiator hose. Second you move the clamp (pliers will work) down the hose away from the thermostat housing, then loosen that hose from the thermostat housing. Third you take of the 2 Bolts off from the thermostat housing, they should be 10mm. Remove the thermostat. When you replace the thermostat you may also need to replace the gasket. Simply put the bolts back in and tighten them, then reattach the lower radiator hose and move the clamp back to its original position. Note: The top radiator hose does NOT lead you to the thermostat housing!
On the top/front of the block, there is a plastic housing that the 2 top hoses connect into. You have to take that plastic housing off and the thermostat is in there.
