I agree with the above person.^^ Emos don't really want to answer people that talk to them, even if they're just trying to be friendly. Just try not to be so happy or optimistic. Don't push it though, if things don't work out, you should probably just give up. Don't take it personally.

Cutting is a harmful coping mechanism for emotional pain, which is not specific to any particular group. Emo individuals may be more likely to engage in self-harm as a way to express their emotions or cope with difficult feelings. It is important for anyone struggling with self-harm to seek help from a mental health professional.
If your friend is emo, it's important to offer them your support and understanding. Let them know you're there to listen without judgment and encourage them to seek professional help if needed. Being a good friend means being there for them through their struggles and showing you care about their well-being.
Talking to an emo guy should not be that har hard. You just have to watch and see what he is interested in and then go up and talk to him. Bring up the stuff he is interested in and he might talk to you. Thats what i did when i made friends with an emo.

This is very stereotypical to start with, but 'emo' guys generally like girls who are emotional too, as in can understand them, and don't judge when they like to talk emotions. But 'emo' guys like all guys differ.
All you have to do is just talk to them about things you like. For example, music, hobbies, books, movies. And people can tell what you are like just by telling them that.
