Allow it to settle into its cage for a week or so. Hand feed it the occasional treat, it will get to know that your scent is nothing to be alarmed about. After that, start gently handling it, picking it up in cupped hands.
using treats and rewards is a great way to train and make your hamster feel safer around people.
