To determine the sex of a dolphin, one would have to look at the underbelly, near the tail. This area is the genital area on all dolphins.
In this area, there will be two slits: the genitals and the anus. For the males, these slits will be visibly separate. For the females, these slits will be next to each other and will appear as one long slit. Also, females have smaller slits on either sides of the vagina that are called "Mammary Slits".

∙ 12y agoThere are two ways to determine the sex of a dolphin.
In the wild, if you see a dolphin with a calf it is the only sure fire way to know that its a female but just because it doesn't, does not mean that it is a male. There is a slight difference in the face of a dolphin for males have a more boxed face while females is more rounded.
In captivity, you can tell by looking at their bellies. They have slits where they keep their sexual parts and the location of these is the best way to determine if they are male or female. A males slit will be close to their belly button while a females will be closer to its tail and also have mammary glands on each side.
If you want to be able to identify them in the wild, id suggest searching "male dolphin" and find one that actually is a male and saving it. Then search "Female dolphin" and find one that is actually female. Study each one closely around its face and you will notice a difference.
If you are swimming with the dolphins, don't be afraid to ask the workers what his or her name is. (this will get them to give you the sex and name of the dolphin usually)
