Sometimes infant mice are born with problems. It's nothing that you or the mother can control. There will often be a runt born with a large litter, or a "peanut" who will always be much smaller than its siblings. Sometimes these babies die.
If the mother is not feeding the babies, that's a different problem. You would need to find a foster mouse, or hand-feed them yourself.
Answera baby mouse would die for a number of reasons:1 reason is it could freeze to death which i have experienced with my orphaned mice shock is another reason if it had been attacked.it could also not been able to get milk from its mother if she had alot of babies like 10 that's what happend to one of my babys when my mouse had like 11 babes
well some of my baby mice died when they are dying they tend to go purple and they stop breathing i diddent see mine dye but that's how i found mine.
if a mouse is dead it would be hard cold stiff and it doesn't movee
Most rodents I've seen close to death do not eat very much or act very energetic, but... I guess most things don't when they're about to die...
Lennie wanted to pet the mouse as he walked as he loves to pet soft things.Once his aunt Clara used to give him mice to pet but she stopped giving them to him because he was petting them too hard and killing them.
He wants to pet it with his thumb
my sisters mouse is pretty active. if your mouse doesn't move much or isn't on the wheel much (assuming you have a wheel) then he/she may be dead. also, you could try cleaning the cage and if the smell comes back he/she is alive. another thing could be put him/her in the ball (assuming you have a ball) and seeing if the ball moves. counting pellets. it shouldn't be too hard to see if your pet mouse has passed, as they are usually active animals.
Lennie keeps a dead mouse in his pocket, which he likes to pet and take care of. Later, he goes searching for the dead mouse after realizing he has lost it.

Lennie carries a dead mouse in his pocket because he likes to pet soft things and finds comfort in them. He doesn't understand that he is being rough and ends up petting the mouse too hard, accidentally killing it. This demonstrates Lennie's innocence and lack of awareness of his own strength.
