Year and MONTH! There's a date code stamped on the barrel. Go to the Manufactured Date page on the Remington Society of America all the details are there.
You can contact Browning Customer Service through their website, or look up date of manufacture on same website.
Try proofhouse.com
Contact Browning with the serial number. They can identify the manufacture date.
manufacture is when you make something in a factory on a certain date then you also write the date on the thing that you made!:)your welcome for the answer
No way to tell for sure. Your rifle was made by Marlin for Sears, and is the Marlin 81- a very nice hunting grade rifle. In its different models, it was made from about 1937-1970. If it does not have a serial number, it was made before the 1968 Gun Control Act. They made a boatload of these, and there is no way to trace an exact date of manufacture.
Call Colt and they will tell you.
