Answer 1: According to guppies.com, they are capable of breeding after one month. However, I'm not sure if this is too young for females to get pregnant, as I believe my female guppy is dying now after giving birth because she was impregnated too early in her life.
Answer 2: There will be a dark gravid spot near her tail. Her belly will be large. It will begin to square off as she nears her due date. It usually takes 21-30 days for guppies to have their babies after getting pregnant. The average gestation is usually 28 days. When she is ready to have her babies, she will hide.
Answer 3: If by ready you mean as in that day she will have babies, I've noticed that she will tend to skulk off into a corner or somewhere away from the main activity in the tank and if you observe her there often across a few hours, it might be time to segregate her so she can safely have her fry. But as said before her belly will need to be big and there will be a black spot (sometimes with a small patch of pink) around her anal fin.
When breeding live bearers the ratio is at least five females to one male, the male will constantly chase the females to the point if you do not have enough females in the tank and you also need some live plants to allow the females to hidw from the males because if you don't you will put too much stress on the females and they will die. Bottom line the males will constantly chase the females.
they will look a bit fat
the male will harss her
she will look abit like a cube
she might not eat
she might be strugling to swim
and wher the babys come out will look grey or just starting to open
She will have a dark spot known as a gravid spot on her side just above the anal fin.
She will look very bloated and her gravid spot will be large and dark. She may make sudden dashes from place to place in the tank as she is releasing her young.
hope this helps
Answer 1:
When they get bigger and when they start to get tired and lay down at the bottom to relax. If that happens, just wait and watch them throughout the day. When they do give birth, make sure the momma and any other fish in your tank don't eat the babies. The easiest way to do that is to separate them and put them in another tank.
Answer 2:
Generally, you will find your female guppy not looking or acting any differently. She will swim and feed with the others, and the males will harrass her whether or not she is about to give birth. Females do not become antisocial, but they do find a quiet spot to quickly drop their babies before resuming normal activities.
The thing to notice is the black spot on her abdomen, which are the baby guppies inside her. The darker it is, the closer she is to giving birth. The dark spot will disappear when she has given birth, but of course, guppies are completely cannibalistic, and unless you have plenty of dense water weed in the tank, the mother (and other guppies) will quite happily eat the babies as soon as they are born. You need to be prepared to shift them quickly into another tank, or into a special small guppy holding tank that stays within the larger tank, and into which you can drop special baby guppy food.
Usually their stomach will be wider around the bottom part of their stomach. They will also start not eating much. As well as, start going behind something (decorations ,etc.) or at the bottom of the fish tank. also, be sure when your guppy does give birth to watch them for a while because the mom might try and eat the little ones. Plus, if there is another fish in the fish tank, be sure to keep them separate, maybe even in another little tank or something, so that they don't interrupt anything or try and eat the babies. :)
It will stay still and shake. The guppy may also look like she is having contractions.
If you have a male guppy and a female guppy they will undoubtedly be mating. If you watch them closely for a while you will see the male showing off and driving up beside the female swinging his gonopodium around trying to penetrate the female. That is what they do when they mate.
when she starts getting her period regularly
Normally the male guppy will attract the female by ruffling its tail at the female. The female will probably mate with it after a while.
The female guppy will be very large and will have a gravid spot near her anus. But when she is ready to give birth she will be very still and huddling near the heater in your tank.
A female guppy is pregnant for about 1-2 months, if you have a pregnant guppy i can tell that she will need to be separated from the other fish in a breeding box, you can buy breeding boxes from most stores for £3.97 ($5.97), because if she is left with other fish they will eat the babies. Some tell tale signs that she is close to delivering the babies is that she will stop eating, hang around away from the other fish and her gravid spot will be almost black. Pleased to help.
The female guppy will develop a dark spot on the side of her belly during pregnancy. As the pregnancy progresses, the spot will grow darker.
The Gravid female will have the dark "gravid spot" in front of her vent. I can however assure you that if there has been a male in the same tank with a female guppy for any reasonable length of time she will be gravid.
When your female guppy is pregnant you can't tell by it's size. You have to look at it's gravid spot. Which is right behind their stomach and the tail. It's right around the butt of the guppy. It takes about a month for the babies to be born. Plus you can not stress out your the pregnant fish.
I can't
fish don't have babies - they lay eggs!!
when they get fat u feal babies in it and they just lie there
Mosquito fish dont have any color, they are mainly tan or grey in color, and they are thinner and longer looking.
You can only make an estimate based on previous research. Guppies are live birthers, and you can't exactly give them an ultrasound.
The first thing to worry about is if you can tell if it's preggers. ;3 She will be bulbous! and when she has all her babies afterward, she will be so scrawny, she seems like a completely different fish.
Breeding is easy but yet hard. All you need to do is get a boy and a girl guppy of course. If our going to have several guppies, then you don't get the same amount of boys and girls. It's should be 2 females for every male. When your female guppy is pregnant you can't tell by it's size. You have to look at it's gravid spot. Which is right behind their stomach and the tail. It's right around the butt of the guppy. It takes about a month for the babies to be born. Plus you can not stress out your the pregnant fish.
