The clockspring is the part that turns your turn signals off when the turn is completed or that warns you if your turn signals have stayed on too long. It also serves as the conduit electrically to activate your drivers side airbag in a crash. If your turn signals do not turn off the clockspring is probably the problem. If you get an airbag light that stays on all the time it COULDbe the clockspring but could also be something else in the circuit as well.

A digital clock can be looked at and the time will be known immediately. You do not need to know how to tell time with a digital clock.

Why is there a Ford airbag warning light?

It is to alert you that there is a problem in the air bag system causing it to be disabled. If your horn does not work then you have what is called a clock spring that is bad. If it works you can have it scanned for codes to tell you what is wrong. Under NO circumstances should you attempt to work on the system as it is very DANGEROUS. It needs to be left to a certified shop.

Does the airbag warning light need to flash when you first start the car in a 2007 dodge caliber in order to tell if the airbag is properly installed?

No, it should come on solid for about 5 seconds and then go out if the system is ok.

Adding a airbag on a older car?

Doable in theory but not in reality. Getting a steering wheel with an airbag is no big deal, but then you need the electronics that'll tell the airbag when to deploy. And I haven'ty seen those for sale anywhere. Maybe you can find someone who'd be willing to transplant the whole airbag system from another car if you could pay them enough for it.

What is a clockspring and how much does it cost to repair?

a clock spring is a tempered metal coil that produces energy regulated thru a series of gears to make the clock run so you can tell time. Most clock shops will charge about 75 to 100.00 to repair this. In automotive terms it is an electrical connection between the steering wheel and the steering column. It carries power to the accessories mounted on the steering wheel such as the horn and air bag. It resembles a clock spring.
