I am not sure if you have a voltmeter in your dash, but one thing you can look for is the gradual dimming of your headlights as you drive along. you will have significant starting issues as your battery is quickly drained. basically, as your alternator fails your battery has no way of recharging itself, and is only able to carry the full electric load for a short period of time
I do not know about a 1988 Isuzu PU, but I have a 1992 and the vacuum diagram is on the underside of the hood. You may need to clean it up a bit to see it. I did. Hope this helps. morempg2u

on a 1989 Isuzu pickup you need to take out the left speakerto get to the signal and hazard light flasher ..The control box for the flashers and turn indicators is all contained within the steering column. Not the easiest to get to.

The engine temperature sensor is under the alternator.
You will need to loosen the tensioner pulley. Put the alternator belt on. Push the tensioner pulley to the left until the alternator belt is tight. Tighten down the tensioner pulley.
To remove the alternator on 1988 Honda CRX the negative battery must first be disconnected. The belt needs to be loosen and the mounting bolts need to be removed as well. When unmounted the alternator will slide off, and a new unit can be replaced.
