If you introduce them when they're young it's best and you need cats with a boisterous personality and dogs that are more laid back are best. it's more about the animals personality then anything else. At the moment I have a Persian cat, a pretty Bombay cat and a Staffy dog. I used to have a big German Shepherd and she got along well with the cats too.
