They came with modified on the right side and full on the left in the 28" and 30" barrels and imp. cyl . and modified in the 26" barrelled models from the factory, from my research, but a lot of owners had them opened up to whatever they wanted, so you have to measure them to be sure.

1965 if it is an auto-5. There should be markings on barrel to indicate choke.

How do you identify shotgun makes?

I have confirmed that the shotgun is indeed a Stevens. Can anyone give me a date of manufacturer based on the above stamping numbers? Serial number lists are not available for Stevens guns, but if you will tell me exactly how the Stevens comapny name is written on the gun, I can give you a general time-period.

You have a JStevens Arms Co double barrel shotgun model 5100 with Springfield written on it also has a single trigger roughly when were these made?

The 5100 was made from 1931 to 1941. I didn't know a single trigger was available in the Springfield line. I own an old Springfield double barrel 20 gauge, serial number E67029. Is Springfield the actual model name, I see no reference anywhere to a model 5100. How do I verify what I have. Well, Apollo50, tell us what IS marked on it and maybe we can tell you something.

How can you tell if a shotgun has a full choke?

Take it to a gunsmith and ask him to measure it. He probably won't even charge you for something this simple. If you have a lot of shotguns to check, you can buy a gauge from him. If a dime does not fit down the end of the barral it was full choke. If it is a modified choke a dime will fit inside. Just my 2 cents

How can you tell what the choke is of a Western Field shotgun Model XNH 565C?

You can pretty much bet on full or modified, but the actual determination of choke is made by comparison the inside diameter of the muzzle to the inside diameter of the barrel before the bore. sales@countrygunsmith.net
