The difference is in the injectors and engine computer. You can not tell by looking at the engine.
The 3.0 liter " Vulcan " V6 engine in a Ford Ranger has the engine oil filter on the drivers side of the engine The 4.0 liter ( OHV ) engine used in the Ford Ranger ( up to the 2000 model year ) has the engine oil filter on the passenger side of the engine
For a 1993 Ford Ranger : I'm not a mechanic / technician , but the way I tell the difference between the 3.0 litre " Vulcan " engine and the 4.0 litre is by where the oil filter is On the 4.0 litre Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine , the engine oil filter is on the PASSENGER SIDE of the engine On the 3.0 litre the engine oil filter is on the DRIVERS SIDE of the engine
engine # underGEN OR ALT STAND
the engine power and the seat height

if it looks new, it is. Stop and think, can you tell the difference between a 1929 ford and a 1995 ford ???? if so, then you can tell the difference between an original colt and a repro.....................
The size is different. The 360 engine is a 5.9 liter engine and a 318 is a 5.2 liter engine.
Kenickie's convertible is a 1946, 1947 or 1948 Ford. Maybe there is a Ford guy out there that can tell the difference between the years but they look the same to me.
