I have a teddy bear hamster that is a male. You can tell the gender by looking at the under side a your hamster, then if your hamster has two testicles (it looks like a little butt) is a male if not it is a female.
It is really hard to know exactly how old a Teddy Bear hamster is, but you can look up how small a baby is, and how big a grownup hamster is, then guess, but there is not really any way to find out exactly. Hope that helps.
You can tell the gender of a teddybear hamster the same way as any other animal or person. It will be along the same line.
turn your hamster upside down and move hair to see gentils. you should be able to see if it is male or female
Younger hamsters are quick and scared. Older hamsters may start to have scruffy hair, and they may lose some hair.
The average life span for a Syrian (Teddy Bear) hamster is approx. 1-2 years of age. But, with my experience, I have had hamsters live to be 4 and 5 years old. This may be very different for dwarf hamsters though.
Dwarf hamsters have an average lifespan of 2-3 years.
Yes. If not intergrated with other hamsters (including even averaged sized hamsters) at an early age, they do become defensive and territorial. This can go as well with an average hamster. But remember, this may vary from animal to animal.
Yes, I have 2. They get along fine. However 2 of the same breed might not get along very well. You may want to get a Boy and a girl. But make sure they're not together all the time, otherwise, the female hamster will get pregnant. If 2 hamsters are together you should always keep supervision over them. How this helped!
A hamster has about 5-7 babies at one time. It depends on the breed, age and health of the hamster. Dwarf hamsters can have up to 14 pups; Syrian hamsters can have up to 24. The average litter is usually 6-10.
No, not if they're over 5 weeks of age, they will attack each other and seriously harm each other.
No they don't. In Britain they cost a maxuimum of about £10.00, but they can only be sold to people above a certain age.
A "teddy bear hamster" is a variety of the Syrian Golden Hamster, noted for a thick, long-haired coat. The colors are generally brown and tan with white markings, but some have black fur with white markings. These hamsters have similar life cycles to other common hamsters. They are totally dependent on the mother for about 3 weeks after they are born, and can be kept in the company of their littermates (same gender) for about another 3 weeks. By this time they will be approaching adulthood. By two or three months of age, they are adults and capable of breeding. (They should be bred by 6 months if this is intended, because older hamsters can have difficulty with first matings after the age of 6 months.) Female hamsters have a gestation (pregnancy) period of just 16 to 18 days! Litters of 6 to 10 are common, although there can be more than a dozen pups. They are generally best kept in separate cages, or with at most one or two other hamsters. Their life span is about two to three years. (more hamster info at the related link)
no. (All) syrian hamsters as adults are very teritoral.it is ok for syrian hamsters to share a cage if thay are under the age of 5 weeks. When they get around the age of 4 weeks you (Must) separate them. Or there fights could be faital.
Well depending on the breed, but from the hamsters I've had I would say from 5-12 months (for most hamsters) cause I have a black bear hamster myself.
it changed society because the teddy bear was used as a cuddly toy
Normally hamsters are separated at 6 weeks old. If they are fighting and ar under that age I would speak to your local vet or pet shop.
I would say a syrian because they cannot escape easily and are by far the friendliest, however I recomend you reaserch the breeds online or buy a hamster book. I have a had one Teddy Bear hamster and one Syrian. My Teddy Bear was great! They are such cutey pies and you just want to smooch them! My Syrian, unfortunately, got cancer at age 2. I honestly am a fan of Teddy Bears. But that is just my opinion. I would have to say dwarf hamsters. They are slightly more expensive than Syrian hamsters, but they are very sweet most of them time. When they are not being sweet though, they can be a little snippy... :/
it is normal for your teddy bear hamster to lose fur. it just a sign of old age. and it is also ok for your hamster to change fur color also.
it is a very cuddly friend that can sit by u when u sad. by Haley age 10
Baby hamsters can be with its Mother hamster until they are 3 to weeks old. If you see them fighting between 3 to 4 weeks separate them immediately. when they are 4 weeks babies will e matured to mate and make more babies! Matured hamsters should be left alone in the cage to avoid fighting and can put together only for breeding purposes. Only when the Female is in heat. Female will freeze when you rub its back, this is how ou know that she is in heat :)
Old Hamsters are Lazy, also have bad teeth then usual
