∙ 15y agoSpeak to your boss privately and say "I'm giving my two weeks' notice." Have this conversation at an appropriate time for the expected amount of notice; for example, have it today (May 16) if your last day is going to be May 30.
The boss may ask you for reasons. You don't have to give them. You can just say "I've found another job" (close to home / with better hours / with more pay / where I have a better chance of promotion / that makes more use of my education / near my wife's work, my kids' school," whatever. In two weeks there's plenty of time to make you uncomfortable, so try not to make it a hostile conversation.
If you work in a professional capacity you may want to write and sign a formal letter of resignation, dated, and addressed to your boss, essentially stating the same thing: "I am resigning from my position as --- effective [date] in order to pursue other opportunities."
