When properly and safely done, throwing knives is not a bad hobby for a responsible 12 year old with good sense.
You need to be straight forward and discuss it with them. In many states, actual throwing knives are legally considered a weapon, and there are age restrictions placed on them. In some places, they even have to be registered or have a permit. If you are doing this without your parents' knowledge, you may find yourself in some very hot water. You would rather them know now and be able to guide you than for them to find out when you are in handcuffs.
