if you have a meter,, disconnect the wires going to the switch , put one lead on each side of the switch and move the switch ,, have the meter set in Ohm mode, if it moves , the switch is ok, if it stays at 0 ,, its done ( hint, tap the back of it lightly if its dead,, it may have fused together and sometimes this will break it loose)
Use a test light to see if the motor is getting power. If it is then motor is bad. If it is not getting power "jump" the wires on the switch to see if window will operate, is so switch is bad
Check to see if you are getting power to the motor if so window motor is defective Could be open wire usually in the door jamb area
First test to see if the problem is the switch, wiring, or the motor. Here's howhttp://www.ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/repair-topics/window-power-repair/test-power-window-motor-and-regulatorThen replace the regulator if the switch and wiring test good. Here's howhttp://www.ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/repair-topics/window-power-repair/replace-a-power-window-motor-regulator
Remove door panel to check wiring to switch and motor See if motor is getting power through the switch - if so motor is bad If no power to motor check operation of switch - jump wires to test if window works bad switch
Disconnect wires from motor and check to see if you have power and ground going to motor--if so motor is bad if not have to check wiring and switch to that motor
Bypass the switch with a jumper & see if you can bump it with a hot wire.
i would first check to see if power window master switch is good usually if more than one window doesnt work, that's where the problem isfords also have a lock on the master switch for windows other than driver window. check that is not engaged
It's most likely either the switch or the motor that is bad. The switch is cheaper... See if a service center at a dealership can hook up an OBD computer to your car to test the switch. If not, you have to start replacing parts and see which is bad. See if a salvage yard near you has these parts - it will save you a lot of cash.
I would suspect the switch first. The next time it fails remove the door panel, unplugg the electrical connection at the window motor and probe the plug with a test lamp to see if the motor is receiving power when you work the switch.
First, check to see if you hear anything when you try the window switch, if nothing and the other window works probably the window switch. Could also be the motor but try the switch first, it's a lot cheaper.
hey. you need to remove the door panel and have a test light to see if you are getting power to the windows moto when you are pushing the switch. if there is no power i would say the main window switch is bad,
9 outta 10 times it will be a bad power window motor. I rarely see the window switch go bad.
