The 2000 Saturn does not have a distributor. Instead it uses a "coil pack" system.
Yes, its inside the coil interface (the thing that the two coils are sitting on)
All Saturn S-series use DIS (Distributorless Ignition System). Instead of a distributor, it uses coil-packs to create spark. These coil packs fire two cylinders apiece and are controlled by the computer.
A solenoid valve is a valve controlled by an electrical coil. A spring keeps the valve closed. When power is turned on to the coil, a plunger is pulled, opening the valve.
There are 8 bolts that hold it on. First remove the cover to the coil packs, Then the coil packs then the vallve cover,
4 cylinder, it is on the top of the valve cover. 6 cylinder, it is inside the distributor and is not serviceable.
Saturn s-series do not use a cam sensor. If you are getting a trouble code that says you have a bad cam sensor, all it is high resistance on the 1-4 ignition coil circuit.A tune up will fix this code(plugs, wires, clean coil towers and there mounting bolts.
The Lincoln ls v8 or v6 has a coil on plug (COP)for each cylinder-they are located inside the valve covers under a small cover on top--Butch
Each plug has its own coil pack. Look between the intake manifold and the valve cover on either side and you will see them. They are right along the fuel rails.
The coil packs are low on the engine block, behind the radiator fan.
Four cylinder, on top of the valve cover. V6, it is a non serviceable component inside the distributor. You will need a new distributor.
