Test with the engine off then with the engine running before driving.

It takes longer this way, but you can crack open the bleeder valves on all four wheels then remove the master cylinder cap and fill with break fluid, keep an eye on the bleeder valves and when they start dripping shut then off as they drip. Refill and replace the master cylinder and cap then bring the engine up to temp. Don't go anywhere yet. Test the brakes with a smooth push of the break pedal, easy does it and you may have pump them up. Now shut down the engine open the master cylinder and wait until the engine compartment cools down to ambient temp.. Then refill and replace master cylinder cap and repeat, sometimes you have to wait overnight for the air to migrate up to the master cylinder.
