How do you remove a outer tie rod on 2003 Chevy venture?

Properly raise, support, and remove wheel from vehicle. Loosen the nut that is on inner tie rod which is fastens to the outter tie rod. Remove cotter pin from outter tie rod stud nut and loosen nut a few turns. Use a small sledge hammer to strike steering knucle (wear safety glasses) where outter tie rod is inserted. Repeat until tie rod becomes loose. Do not strike tie rod but you can gently hit stud to see if it has become loose from steering knuckle. While holding inner tie rod in place, count how many turns it takes to remove outter tie rod, then install new tie rod with an equal amount of turns (while holding inner in place). Use new hardware that comes with the new tie rod, and use grease gun to grease it until you see tie rod boot slightly move. Tighten nut that fastens outter tie rod in place to inner tie rod, then tighten outter tie rod stud to steering knuckle and install cotter pin (do not overtighten any nuts). Install wheel and you should get an alignment.

How do you stop the ball joints and tie rod ends from turning while trying to tighten the nuts?

Hit the ball joint down so it is firmly seated then tighten up the nut. If the thread is slightly damaged then the tie rod may turn, in this case hold the end of the bolt with some vice grips to stop it turning and continue to tighten the nut. When the nut gets tight you will no longer need the vice grips, tighten up the nut and insert the split pin. How do you change the tie rod end on a 1993 Chevy Corsica?

Simplified answer as you have not indicated left or right or rack end: Jack up car. Remove wheel on offending side Locate tie rod Release lock nut that locks tie rod end to tie rod thread. Remove nut that connects and retains tie rod to steering knuckle. At this point you need to release the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. You can do this with a properly applied hammer, but be careful you can bend or break the steering knuckle. I prefer to use a special tool for this purpose. It takes a couple extra minutes to pop this apart but insures no damage. Thread the tie rod end off the the threaded tie rod or out of the coupler. Reverse to install new but do not tighten the lock nut or nuts. Reinstall tire and lower car to ground. Take a tape measure and adjust the toe in. Lock the Lock nuts up solid.
