go to your local library and get service manual for that engine it will show you a picture of the timing marks and explain how to line them up.

code 4 is your Crank shaft postion sensor
There is not 1 on that year. They were NOT used untill 1996
I am not sure if it has any but if there is they will be down on the crank shaft pulley
If speedometer itself is working then gears inside the assembly are damaged.
it could be your crank shaft censer
The crank shaft sensor is located on the bottom portion of the timing cover to the left of the crank pulley. Look for two wire harnesses and remove them along with the bolt.
the timing marks are the the triangle on the cam shaft and there is a plate in the back of the cam shaft that has a groove at the top of the plate.line bot of them up then your car will be timed.
