usually you don't have to train a dog to be protective it already is, i didn't have to train my dog and it is a great watch dog.
I agree. Usually dogs have a natural sense of "Hey! This is my territory; get out!", so they'll just bark and bark at someone. Usually. But if your dog doesn't do that, then he/she either trusts humans too much (not that that's a bad thing) to bark at them, or he/she doesn't really care.

∙ 12y agoWell if you want to know how to train a dog to be a guard dog is really hard. Well first thing is to teach it to sit, lie down and stop barking. That's simple all you do is to to make them sit down and say sit down. Repeat the proccess. Then do the same on lie down and stop barking. Now then you make the dog bark when sombody walks to the house and to do that put toys infornt of the door and make your dog bark by makeing a scary face. It should now be able to bark when he sees a burgular.
