Step 1: put your music to a folder on your compute, e.g. "D:\music" .
Step 2: Run iTunes, click "File", click "Add Files to Library..." or "Add Folder to Library..." , select the songs in folder D:\music.
Or simply run iTunes, Drag your files in "D:\music" to your iTunes music Library.
If you want to transfer music from iPod back to computer, you need to utilize some tools to help you.
This ipod manage software can transfer the files from ipod to computer, ipod to iTunes, and iPod to iPod:Super easy way to get your hands on your ipod songs: open my computer, file e: (when ipod is plugged in), go up to TOOLS, Folder options, View, and click on show hidden items (apple hides and scrambles your song list.) in e: click on ipod_control, music, and you should see "F#" these are the scrambled song titles. transfer to your desktop, and do whatever you want with your songs! great for transferring songs from one ipod to another! don't forget to turn hidden back off, don't wanna delete something you need! An alternative way is to use an iPod-to-iPod transfer program to help you. I recommend iPod 2 iPod. It enables you to transfer music/video from one iPod to another in a direct way.
the music files are hidden in a folder in the ipod... you need to enable "Show hidden files and folders" in folder options, if xp look in the top of the folder for folder options if 7 or vista look in control panel... than you can see hidden folders in the ipod which contain your music, the problem is that it has a weird name, such as g2sdl23okiads or something like that, you need to copy it to your computer, add to itunes and i tunes will straighten things up, and than puttin it in the ipod should be easy :D
If your question implies trying to change the OS (Operating System) of your iPod to become WindowsXP, you are unable to do so. XP is a computer based interface whereas the iPod uses it's own software to emulate a computer, but with the use of individual apps.
Needs a new cord
Yes. You will need iTunes with a PC running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 or a Mac running Mac OS 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6. Without a computer you will not be able to put music and other content onto your iPod.
Insert your iPod to a Windows PC USB or FireWire port. (PC should runs Windows XP or other Windows operating system). If your Windows PC still doesn't have iTunes installed, skip this step. If iTunes is already installed and prompt a message on whether if you'd like to associate this iPod with this computer and deleting its content, click No. Or else you will lose your only copy of library on iTunes. Beside, ensure that Enable Disk Use is selected.Open My Computer or Windows Explorer, the iPod should be automatically detected as a portable hard drive.Click on the iPod icon or the iPod portable hard drive letter to open the contents of the drive. If you don't see a folder called iPod Control, it's hidden and invisible. To unhide it so that it's visible, go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and then check (enable) the option Show hidden files and folders.Open the iPod Control folder, and then the Musicfolder. The Music folder contains the iPod's music and videos, divided into folders. Copy the library to local computer hard drive's My Music folder. The files copied have unintelligible four-letter file names. To reveal the names of the songs and other data tags, add the files to the Windows Media Player or iTunes libraries or switch to "Tiles" view in Windows Explorer.Rename the file if necessary.Besides the above manual way to copy and transfer song library from iPod to computer, or import into iTunes, there are several third party programs, more commonly called iPod Manager, that have the iPod copying function.
