Goldfish are egg laying fish, so they do not get pregnant.

Unless there is a male in your tank, the female either may not release her eggs at all & simply reabsorb them, or if there is a male, and he chases the female to convince her to release her eggs, some of those eggs may become fertilized.

Make sure to feed it once every few days, but not too much. Goldfish will die if fed too much. Also, clean the tank once a week or so. That's pretty much all it takes.
Make sure you don't stress it for at least 3 days after it moves into your house by banging on the glass or getting too close to the glass. Give it enough food daily and clean the tank as often as needed. Make sure you give it things to occupy it whilst in the cage. (If you need anymore advice on food ect. Talk to a person from where you bought the goldfish from, buy a leaflet or browse the net.)

There are many myths and mis-information provided about keeping goldfish, so I will provide what I can here in this answer.

Goldfish can grow very large, even the fancy variety. They need at least 15 gallons each no matter how cute & tiny they are when you first buy them. It's not just about their size, but the amount of waste they produce, as they are a very messy fish.

If you decide to start with one fish, then you're best to buy a 20 gallon starter kit which will come with a HOB (Hang On Back) filter and other assorted items needed. In addition, you should also buy some water conditioner for water changes (Prime or Amquel+ for example), and I would recommend a sinking pellets rather than floating, or flakes to avoid having them gulp air when they eat.

You will want to change at least 50% of the tank water every week, feed the fish only as much as he/she can eat in about 2 minutes, and make sure that when you change the water, you add in the same temperature of water including the recommended dosage of water conditioner per the directions on the bottle.
Keeping fish successfully is a hobby/science that requires considerable knowledge. That knowledge can not be written briefly in a few words on here. The first thing I would advise you to do is get a good book on keeping goldfish and read it cover to cover before you buy anything. Then, if there is anything that you don't understand in the book, you can come on WikiAnswers and get your specific questions answered.

Feed it every other day and change it's water every week, without fail. Talk to your fish. Read your favorite stories to it. Watch movies like "Finding Nemo" with it, and discuss it later. Watch nature films with it, but never anything about sharks. They freak OUT a bit when you do that.

They need plenty of good clean water so a large tank is neccessary. Food wise, to begin with, infusoria (can be suplemented with hard boiled egg yolk) is what they need until they are big enough to take small crustacea like cyclops and daphnia and also include micro worms. Pet shops also carry some food that will be suitable.

You clean the tank and you feed it once in the morning and once at night. Don't put any objects in the tank that you think it could get stuck in or cut itself on.
