You can burn it with the torch but that will give it a powdery substance, it wont stay black of you touch it, but put sealer over it, you can also use powder coating, and heat it in the proper oven.

You can black it by heating it and plunging it into oil, but better-quality work uses a chemical treatment which has the advantage of not risking affecting the steel's properties or distorting the component. You do not "burn it for a long time"!
