It has to be reset with a code reader that plugs into computers diagnostic port. It can also retrieve whatever codes have been set to help you find what the problem is. If you reset without a repair, it will come on again after fault occurs 2x or 25 mi. You may be able to reset by pulling batt cable for 1/2 hr, but won't pass smog and light will come back on again.
