Put the seat belt on!
The seat belt is part of the Supplementary Restraint System and works in conjunction with the air bags and all that junk. In a severe roll over, it will keep you in the vehicle and stop your body being thrown out and likely chopped in half when the wreck rolls on top of you! In a head-on, it will keep you in the seat and allow the air bags to do their work!
In the advent of a serious accident, it will save you

Put on your seatbelt. It it is still chiming with your belt on, take it back to the dealer for repair. It is under warranty.
Once you put your seat belt on and buckle it the chime will go off. If it does not then take the car to the dealer for warranty repair.
It is unlawful to not wear a seat belt while driving or riding in a car. Wearing the belt turns off the chime. Some vehicles (VW's for instance) will chime for about 3 minutes then the light goes out and the warning signal turns off.
This vehicle is still under warranty, so if the chime is malfunctioning, take it to the dealer. If you just want to drive around like an idiot with the seat-belt unbuckeled, I won't help you. Buckle your belt and the chime will go off.
