go to the dealer. have them see if it is throwing a code. If the light is on, something is probably wrong. It could be a s simple as a bad wire or sensor, or a defective or broken part in the engine or motor.
Toyota had one problem with the computer on some hybrids, and all it took was to take it to the dealer so the system could be reset.
(The above posting is incorrect. The light is just a warning that an oil change is due because 5000 miles has passed. To turn it off, see p. 148 of your manual. In summary, set Trip Meter to "a." Shut off car. Hold down trip meter button while turning car back on with Power Button. Continue to hold down trip button while it resets the light...it takes a couple of seconds.)
The above corrected answer works for the 2008 Camry as well. However, make sure that while holding down the Trip A button while turning the engine off, that you only turn the ignition switch back to "On", but do not actually start the engine. The correct procedure is: switch trip button to 'A' position. Shut engine off (press POWER. Press POWER once again (but without depressing brake pedal so as to turn on accessory only). Press and hold trip button for at least 5 sec. While holding it, press POWER button again (this time while depressing brake pedal) to turn engine ON. Keep pressing trip button until reset. This procedure also works on the 2009 Camry hybrid use the start the engine procedure and on the 2008 Toyota hylander use the don't start engine procedure.
