This light comes on when the computer on your car has set a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code). You can use a scan tool or go your local parts and have them use on to read these codes and, if you wish, clear them so that the light goes off. Doing this may be in vain because if the problem indicated by the DTC is still present, the light will come back on. The only way to keep the light off is to find and repair the root cause of the DTC and then clear the code.
