From Haynes manual: * Switch off the ignition, then press and hold down the trip reset button at the bottom of the speedo. * Switch on the ignition and release the button, and note that the display will read 'Service'. * Press down the reset button for approximately 10 seconds and the display 'Service' will be erased. According to Haynes, this will automatically reset the display to a 'distance-time' interval (i.e. 10,000 miles/15,000 km). To reset to the variable/longlife interval, you have to go to a VW dealer, as they have a special instrument for this.
