The programmable horn chirp (at least on the 2002 Malibu) can be disabled by pressing and holding either of the door lock switches in the unlock position for 10 seconds, with the ignition on and all of the doors closed. When you hear the horn chirp, programming is complete. To reactivate, repeat the procedure.
you double click the lock or check your horn

This is what the manual says but I have not been successful Deactivating/activating the autolock feature Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is OFF and all vehicle doors are closed. You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds. 1. Turn the ignition key to ON. 2. Press the power door unlock control three times. 3. Turn the ignition key from ON to OFF. 4. Press the power door unlock control three times. 5. Turn the ignition back to ON. The horn will chirp. 6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated. 7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete.
Found this, it might help.. Stand close to the car. Press and hold "Lock" button on the key, wait at least 4 sec, then press the "Unlock" button while still holding the lock button, then release both buttons. Repeating this will turn it back on. Dave
I just bought a replacement remote at www.keylessride.com . It was $45 plus tax and came with free programming instructions. The dealership was going to charge me $80 to program. The power locks can only be engaged from the driver's door. You press down on the door lock on the driver's door and it will lock all the doors. Or you turn the key in the lock to the right in the door lock of the driver's door and it will lock all of the doors.
Insert key in the door lock and turn to unlock the door.
Is it a real quiet "chirping" that changes in ten second intervals from 1 chirp to 2 to 3 to 4 and then repeats? The chirping you hear from the Malibu driver side speaker has to do with setting your door lock "mode". You can tell the car which doors you want to automatically unlock when you turn off the key. This is done by holding the electric lock switch down until you hear the "chirps". Different numbers of chirps represent different door combinations. I personally prefer all four doors unlocking when I turn off the ignition and that mode is represented by 1 chirp. You can also set it to unlock the drivers door only or both front doors only. (I forgot the chirp numbers for those.) I learned this on my own after putting up with that chirping for days. Two different Chevy dealers couldn't answer that question either, even though the door lock mode procedure is outlined in the owners manual. My problem is that my electric door lock switch gets stuck in both the up and down position. I have to make a consious effort to manually return it to the middle after every use. (Replacing the switch is very expensive.) I suspect you have the same problem. Has your horn ever honked for no apparent reason? Cuz, you change whether or not you want the horn to sound as the automatic locks activate by holding the lock switch up for approx 10 secs. until you hear it honk. So, if your lock switch gets stuck in the up position? ........yeah. Fun stuff, huh? Any more questions email me bickleman@charter.net
put in the key turn it right and pull out :) !
