Is it a real quiet "chirping" that changes in ten second intervals from 1 chirp to 2 to 3 to 4 and then repeats? The chirping you hear from the Malibu driver side speaker has to do with setting your door lock "mode". You can tell the car which doors you want to automatically unlock when you turn off the key. This is done by holding the electric lock switch down until you hear the "chirps". Different numbers of chirps represent different door combinations. I personally prefer all four doors unlocking when I turn off the ignition and that mode is represented by 1 chirp. You can also set it to unlock the drivers door only or both front doors only. (I forgot the chirp numbers for those.) I learned this on my own after putting up with that chirping for days. Two different Chevy dealers couldn't answer that question either, even though the door lock mode procedure is outlined in the owners manual. My problem is that my electric door lock switch gets stuck in both the up and down position. I have to make a consious effort to manually return it to the middle after every use. (Replacing the switch is very expensive.) I suspect you have the same problem. Has your horn ever honked for no apparent reason? Cuz, you change whether or not you want the horn to sound as the automatic locks activate by holding the lock switch up for approx 10 secs. until you hear it honk. So, if your lock switch gets stuck in the up position? ........yeah. Fun stuff, huh? Any more questions email me bickleman@charter.net

The speaker cover's you are referring to, are they in the front or back of the vehicle. If in the front you have to remove the door panel. If in the back, just grabe yourself a flat head screw driver and carefully push under cover and pop out.
