There is a peacock valve.
tank is built with two fuel drains, 1 normal use, second is reerve. when normal doesn't provide fuel, turn fuel selector valve to reserve position for the last 3/4 of a gallon of fuel in the tank. Look for the gas line coming out of the tank and it will go into fuel selector/cut-off valve. Most m/cs work this way.
The 3 gallons is the reserve left in the tank. This reserve prevents you from running the tank dry. Almost every car built today has a reserve of from 2-4 gallons.
It depends on the 4 wheeler, the terrain, and other factors, but I get about 25 mpg on my Arctic Cat 454. I have a little over 3 gallon tank and am able to go about 75 miles before I have to turn on my reserve. This is in slightly mountainous terrain, but the trails are pretty easy. If you plan on very rough trails, your gas mileage will decrease dramatically. Likewise flat, smooth trails will allow you to get slightly better gas mileage.
4.2 Gal with .4 reserve included.
