The temperature?

Electric - thermostats are located behind 2 rectangular cover plates. Usually marked with 120 - 160°F markings. Just adjust the slot to line up with a temp. you want (140°F is a good starting point).

Gas water heaters have a dial on the thermostat located at the lower part of the tank.

Low = 120°

Normal = 140°

Hot = 160°

Caution: any temp. over 120° can scald, especially children and older adults.
