How do you unclog a sewer pipe after a sewer snake goes through the clog yet the pipe is still clogged?

The problem could be anything from a small ball thrown down the drain, to roots clogging up the sewer line, to a cracked sewer line, all of which have been known to block sewer lines.
Best bet is to dig down where the rods end and investigate the problem

∙ 11y agoHere is a story of one such problem and how I was able to fix it.
A home owner told me that she called a different drain cleaning company two days before she called me and the drain cleaning company snaked out her main line with two different kinds of sewer snakes which did not solve the problem and they told her that the city's main sewer line in the street is where the problem was. For anyone in sewer cleaning, that would be a good guess but when I showed up I noticed that the woman lives on a street with many other houses and no one else was having any problems. I snaked it out for two hours and then located the line to make sure the sewer line goes to the street and it did. I used a 100 long 5/8 cable and the total length of the sewer out to the street was 65' so I knew that I was snaking past the clog area. As I pulled back through the clogged area there was a very thick tar which would clog back up instantly after pulling the snake through. After another 2 hours thinking the tar -ike debris turned to a liquid and after the pipe was clean, I used a camera to find the problem. This explanation should help anyone with the same problem as long as the sewer snake cable is long enough. If the problem is outside (which this wasn't) you can try a jetter too.
