This Hartmann lock is not as simple as resetting the other common 3 ring locks, such as on the Samsonite. There are 999 numbers you can try and it takes about an hour to go through all 999 numbers. Your case will be open then. If you want to pick the lock, you can get a razor blade and slide it between the wheels (left side) and feel for a notch while turning the number wheels. Once you have all three wheels aligned to the notch, just write down the numbers and rotate the entire wheel set around together until it opens.
I have successfully unlocked 3 digit luggage combination locks by trying all combinations, it takes a few hours. I have successfully unlocked similar 4 digit combination padlocks by pulling the hasp then rotating each digit until I feel it drop in place, it takes up to about 30 minutes but this can't be done on built in luggage locks as they have no hasp.
If you don't want to spend that much time, just break the lock...
With a key.
With the briefcase that I have, I had to put in the unlock combination. Then hold down the unlock button or latch and while holding it down change the combination. Once you release the latch or button the combination will have changed. Try out the new combination to verify.

You can take it to a locksmiths so they can open it for you. Otherwise, try every possible combination, as there only 1000 and you might get lucky. Or try opening it with a hammer.

1. Look for a small recessed button below (on the bottom side) the TSA key access. 2. Push in the button with a paper clip or pen. 3. While the button is pushed, change the combination to the desired numbers. 4. Then release the button and the combination has been reset.
To reset or put in a custom code for your TSA suitcase lock follow these instructions. Set the lock to the default code of 000; use a sharp item to press the reset button in do this until you hear a click. Set your own custom code, pull the catch out as if to open the suitcase lock until you hear another click, your custom lock combination is now set.
First, use the correct combination and unlock the suitcase. Behind the combination wheels, you will see a small orange slider with positions A and B. It should be in position A (up). With the original correct combination showing, move the orange slider to position B (down). Set the new 3 digit combination you want to change to. Move the orange slider back to position A (up.) Your new combination should be set now.
Answer: there should be a button on your suitcase, if there is, then press it and push the lever then it will work and then you will be carrying your suitcase like you should, with your extendable handle. If there is no button to push on, on the extendable handle, then go on the back of the handle and push it, you should be lifting it up by now. hope these answers help you!
Use a pistol, hold with bith hands ,aim at lock ,then shoot. Good luck!
Combination locks on suitcases are seldom more than 4 numbers long. It is therefore possible to crack them by simply trying every number between 0000 and 9999. Start at one need ans simply work to the other, at some point you will hit the correct combination - it just take a little time.
