First you 3DS must be connected to the internet
1. Turn on DS and open System Settings
2. Select Internet Settings
3. Connection Settings
4. New connection
5. Instructions will appear on-screen for rest of set-up.
Once connected to internet, return to System Settings menu and choose Other Settings. Scroll through to the last page of options and choose System Update. It will then ask you if you want to connect to the internet and perform a system update. Select Ok. Instructions will appear on-screen.
