How do you upgrade Tom Nook's store in Animal Crossing New Leaf?

You upgrade Nook's store by purchasing and/or paying your mortgage.

There are four stores in all:

• Nook's Cranny
• Nook n' Go
• Nook Way
• Nookington's

Each store has a certain amount of money that you need to upgrade it.

• Nook's Cranny to Nook n' Go = spend $25,000
• Nook n' Go to Nook Way = spend $90,000
• Nook Way to Nookington's = spend $240,000 and have a friend shop at the store

So there's is the amount of money you need to spend in order to upgrade each store. For me it was a lot easier just paying off my mortgages one at a time. Usually this method works.

You have to spend a certain amount of money at Tom Nook's store. As you buy more items, spending money at his store, you need to spend more and more each time you upgrade to upgrade to the next level.

Nook's Cranny

Nook 'N' Go

Nookway

Nookington's (Wild World and City Folk)
You upgrade Tom Nook's shop by buying lots of things. To get the final upgrade a visitor needs to buy something.

If you have Nook's Cranny ( the shop you start off with ) you will upgrade by spending 25,000 bells and then you will have Nook 'n' Go. After spending 90,000 bells at Nook 'n' go you will upgrade to Nookway. To upgrade to the last version of Nook's store Nookingtons you have to spend 250,000 bells and have had a friend shop from one of Nook's stores. I won't give away anything but it's worth getting Nookingtons. You will know when your store is going to upgrade because a notice will come on the bulletin board and Tom Nook will tell you. He will close his shop for one day and then the next day her will re-open with your new shop. Nookingtons has a hair salon, two storys and three new people working in his shop.
