To upgrade from Mac OS X 10.5.x (Leopard) requires the purchase of a copy of Mac Os X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). This is available from Apple stores (See links below) and many other retailers for around $29 (£25) . To be able to run Snow Leopard your Mac needs to have an Intel processor. Macs with older processors (G4 or G5) will not be able to run Snow Leopard and cannot be updated beyond Mac OS X 10.5.x
Mac OS X 10.6 is not available yet. !0.5 is the current version. If your Mac meets the minimum requirements (if it is still running 10.2 it may not) you will need to buy a copy of Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) and install it.
Mac OS X 10. 4 (Tiger) can be updated via Software Update found in the Apple menu. The highest version available is 10.4.11. To upgrade further will require purchasing a copy of either Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard) although the latter will not work on older (non-Intel processor) Macs.
To upgrade beyond Mac OS X 10.4.11 you will need to purchase a copy of Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) this can then be updated to the current version 10.5.7.
Buy a MAC OS X Snow Leopard upgrade disk from the Apple Store it only costs $30 for the new OS upgrade.
You should be able to update to Snow Leopard (10.6) by purchasing an installation CD. These CDs are available on the Apple Store website even though they were temporarily removed a while ago.

The App Store is part of the OSX System software. If you don't have it you can update to a version that has it, which includes Mac OS X 10.6.6 "Snow Leopard" or later.
The problem lies with Java.If you are using and older version of Mac OSX like 10.3.9 (Panther) and have the latest version of Java (Java 1.4.2_12) from Apple for Panther. Azureus 3.0.4.2 will still not work. You have 2 options. 1) Update your Mac OSX to 10.4 and above and get the latest Java releases compatible with those versions of OSX. This will fix it! Unless you're like me and your old Apple G4's will not support OSX 10.4.Bummer! I think it's getting time to finally upgrade the whole system. 2) Install an older version of Azureus on you OSX 10.3.9. Azureus 3.0.3.0 works fine and can be downloaded from:http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=84122Scroll down the page to find:View older releases from the azureus package After installing Azureus will automatically install an update to 3.0.3.2.
The current Macintosh OS is OSX 10.8.# OSX 10.9 should come out in 2013.
