Unlike Windows Live Messenger (now merged with Skype), creating custom emoticons is not a supported feature for AIM and you can only choose from a pallete of emoticons designed by AOL. There is one simple, inconvenient solution: copy and paste a static or animated emoticon into the chat window. (-_-;)
Edit - Settings - Expressions - (at the end) check box: Display emoticons as text instead of images
Emoticons are used in instant messaging programs like aim, yahoo messenger, etc. You can download them from programs such as SweetIm.com.

No. AIM does NOT give your computer a virus. I have been using it for about 5 years now and my computer is in perfect shape.

There are "robots" on Aim. They are a computer. They talk to you when you Aim them because they are there for you to talk to them and get information.
