open up Invedit, select "open from" and chose the world you want to invedit, and search for items you want and drag them into your inventory (the boxes). then click save to world # (whatever you want)
I recommend TooManyItems instead of InvEdit. The difference is that to use InvEdit you need to close your game to add/delete items, while TooManyItems is an ingame inventory editor. The download link can be found under "Sources and related links" below this answer. If you're not familiar with minecraft mods, I also recommend you check out the guide I have made.
However, if you still want InvEdit instead, the link can also be found below.
You do not buy minecraft beta. If you have already purchased a minecraft account all you have to do is sign into the launcher (the first window that pops up before loading the game itself) and click on "edit profile". That will open up another window with different options to select. under "select versions" click on "allow old beta versions (2010-2011)", all beta versions of mincraft should then be avilaible under the "use version" selection. I hope I was able to answer your question fully. have fun :D

You don't need a CD for mods. You don't need a CD for Minecraft at all.

It means inverse, and performs the opposite of the given operation. For example, if you want inverse of tangent, you will use that inv button.
