This is a very hard question to answer because I do not know what router you are on about. Usually, most routers now will have a CD/DVD to help you set up your router.
Basically, what you really need to know when setting up your router is your internet login info, for example; name@dialbb.com. And of course the password. You can get this by phoning your internet provider.

Please see the instructions that came with your router to setup a wireless network. Most routers come with a setup file that will guide you through the process one step at a time.

If you connect to the router's web interface (usually at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1), they usually have help text.
If a setting isn't documented and explained, leave it as it is.

∙ 12y agoIf you certainly need WI-FI for a phone or iPod , here is what i'll recommend you .
Step 1 : Get your Wireless Router and Cable Modem .
Step 2 : Get a line that will make a WI-FI Connection .
Step 3 : Connect it with a description on the cable modem that show "Line 1" and Connect to the "Ethernet" on the Router.
Step 4 : Setup WI-FI on your device and There You Go.
- If This Doesn't Work , Then Try Contacting a Retailer . It Worked for Me .

It does not matter if you are connected through wireless or cable, your router can provide firewall protection for all of its ports on the LAN side.
