You can, in fact, play the Wii without the packaged Wii Remote. However, this can only be done if you buy another Wii remote and register it as your main Remote. The Gamecube controller can also be used to play games but it is only compatible with some games and cannot be used for the main menu.

∙ 14y agoYes all you have to do is get another controller and open the SYNC below the reset button on the console.Open the back of the wii controller where you put the batteries in then hold the red button that is round and hold the other red button on the console together with the other one.When you are doneturn on the wii and see if it works.
