Use it as an adjective when describing something. The pencil needs to be sharpened so it is pointed. Another example is: Bob shot the headmaster a pointed glance when he questioned his answer. Here pointed means an angry look.

Use it as a verb when describing the past tense action of point. Terry pointed her finger at the snake.
