How do you win in street fighter 4?

Just play to have fun, relax, and expect cheapness from the computer. No joke; don't be so competitive, not only will it kill your gameplay, but it will spoil the fun. General tips, although take these with a grain of salt as I can only beat Street Fighter IV undefeated on hard difficulty. Also, I can not consistently beat Street Fighter III undefeated on level 4 difficulty, which is roughly the equivalent of level 6 difficulty on other SF games. A true expert, can beat an SF game undefeated without losing a single round on level 8 difficulty in all SF games, hardest mode in SF IV. I am not an expert, as I am two notches below the hardest setting, I can not beat SF IV on the hardest difficulty because my skills are not what they were when I was in High School, I'm only 60% as good as I used to be. Still though, because I like to help;

1) Practice the special attacks 10 times going both directions before challenging arcade mode.

2) When done practicing special attacks, experiment with different button combos, as a general rule, combos always begin with a weak attack; little attacks set up the big ones let me put it that way. You "sting and stun" to "land a bomb." Remember when fighting human players, that behind every jab, there is ALWAYS a power bomb behind it. Another word of warning, jabs may also be used to play mind games; human players will use them just to toy with you, they will beat your character's health bar to only a hair, and then end the match with a jab to get on your nerves and throw your focus of balance. I know, 'cause I've done it myself against players I did not like, people who were jerks. Beware of jabbers; one thing Video Games and real world pro boxing has in common, is that you can tell how smart someone is by how well they use the jab. Beginers, always make the mistake of trying to land power blows all the time, a bad habit formed from the SF II days; the reason SF IV has focus attacks, is to prevent people from relying solely on power blows. The parrying system in SF III has a similar purpose. Again, beware of SF players who know how to use the jab, the only think you can do is back pedal, don't try to counter. Fei Long is ESPECIALLY dangerous, even in the hands of an intermediate player; some of his fierce punches are in fact as fast as other character's jabs. Meaning that once he gets a combo going, you're pretty much dead. Beating Fei Long is not impossible, problem is the character is such a speed demon you need anticipation skills that border on precognition to beat him. Experiment with different jab combos, setting up both defensive and offensive combos, also experiment with up jabs plus super moves, or, super moves followed by a jab followed by yet another super move. You play long enough pretty soon you just do it without even thinking.

3) Don't underestimate chick gamers; some chick gamers only play, because chicks, being human females, their brains are a little different. The human male brain is wired to master skill, whereas the female brain is wired to maintain harmonious relationships. For the sake of getting closer to their boyfriend, some chicks will play video games, but that is the only reason; that type of chick gamer is often, quite pathetic, to be frank, when it comes to gameplay skill. However there are chick gamers who love video games because they love the mental challenge, and those chick gamers are in fact very dangerous. Take them lightly and you will get worked BAD. Generally, chick gamers are either laughably pathetic, or monstrously good, but there is no middle ground with them. The reason chicks can be so good at video games, is because they have a double hemisphere advantage; en uteru (in the womb), while a human male is developing in his mother's womb, testosterone will cause slight brain damage to the right hemisphere, making the left hemisphere the "logic" portion of the brain operate more efficiently. Because women are not similarly "brain damaged," assuming she knows to ignore, or control her sex drive, the female brain has the advantage of natural instinct paired with logic, things you need to play video games well. What does sex have to do with this? Well, it takes 1 hormone to make a man, but 3 to make a woman, plus they have a shorter reproductive window; the female sex drive is thus four times more powerful than that of the male, however the reason most women have less partners in a given lifetime, is because of the risk of pregnancy. Thus for men it is not a question of getting them to do it, but convincing a woman WHY she should be careless with YOU. The stereotype that dudes with bucks get all the chicks is true because, having more financial resources, a woman can get careless and not worry about offspring problems. Get careless with a poor man, and its a life of struggle, get careless with a rich man, and the kids at least will be well taken care of even if the man doesn't stick around. I have long said, that in America evil men are breeding out of control precisely BECAUSE of that. Back to gaming though; the reason most women are not as intelligent as men, is because of their sex drive. The female need for sex is so powerful, it interferes with their cognitive function HOWEVER, if a woman is taught to CONTROL IT, her intelligence can reach cosmic proportions. It is well known that an aroused woman who is able to exert the appropriate amount of self control will reach the pinnacle of her gameplay ability, and that pinnacle is high. At this point achieving the Ultra Combo Finisher becomes almost inevitable. The world of Islam has more intelligent women per capita than the west, because the religion of Islam makes it easier for women to control themselves. Because control of their sexual desire is not an issue, and because in Islam the female sex drive is acknowledged as stronger than the male, many Muslim women turn to the religion to help with the self control, and because many become good at taming it, the powers of the double hemisphere advantage of the female brain are thus unlocked. Ironically, a woman can make herself smarter by being "virtuous," than by being a skank. So what does this mean for you, as a gamer? A word of warning, some women learn how to control their sexuality on their own, without anyone teaching them, their minds are so strong, so powerful so focused, that this can make them extremely deadly in gaming. Also as you know the old addage "chicks are mean," this translates to fighting games. Chicks, have no qualms about fighting cheaply, whereas guys are hindered by silly "honor" and "sportsmanship" codes.

4) Play in a difficulty mode you can beat undefeated without losing a single round. Street Fighter isn't about beating the game, given enough gameplay time ANYONE can do that, its about beating the game, WITHOUT LOSING. The absolute highest level of gameplay skill in Street Fighter is being able to beat level 8 or hardest difficulty without getting hit, something I think only 1% of all SF players can do. Anyway, starting on medium difficulty, just play and play until you can beat the game without losing a single round, remembering to keep everything at default (damage, time, number of rounds, etc) except the difficulty. When you can beat the game undefeated without a hitch, when "this is so easy its boring," jack up the difficulty. If at THAT difficulty its too easy, keep jacking it up until you can't play it undefeated again, that way, your instinct and skill are slowly built up. It requires patience but it works.

5) If at all possible you should download Street Fighter Alpha 3, and play the fastest possible turbo mode; playing Street Fighter at high speeds improves reflexes, and it forces you to think quickly.

If you follow those 5 tips, your gameplay skill should improve somewhat.

Charge characters are inferior to shodos. You must main ryu and use the almighty shoryuken for your offence and defence.
