Make sure both bulbs are good (dual filament bulbs) check the brake light switch on the brake pedal. Also, if you are wired for a trailer hitch, the 4-5 wire module may be bad. Eliminate it and check the brake lights again.
you get a 4 pin harness from the dealership and it plugs right in by the fuse block.
yellow left turn, green right turn, brown tail lights, white ground on standard 4 wire system brake lights will work off turn signals.
1. Burned out bulb. Easiest to fix / find. OR 2. Fuse blown. OR 3. Trailer Fuse blown (yes it effects the tail / brake lights) OR 4. Ground wire not grounding. Hardest to fix / find.
i have conected the black and red wire to the brake and it works (the brake light that is) and i conected the blue and white to the signal lights each wire being left and right signal and it all works. but when i brake all of the light lights up the red bar for the brake and the orage bars left and right when i signal left or right whiles braking the signal works but the other signal light sticks on with the brake light. so if any one as any idears please let me know thanks
I had a similar experience on my 57 Chevy back in the 60's. 1. CheckFuse Panel fuse under Brake Lights. 2. Check bulbs High Beam filaments. 3. Withrunning lights on tap tail lights to check for wire grounding shorts. 4. Check flasher to see that the lights work. 5. This is what I discovered to be wrong: Look under Brake Pedal for the Brake Relay Switch button. It works in reverse like the button on a refrigerator or vehicle door. When the button is pressed in by the brake pedal it opens the circuit to the High Beam of the brake/running tail lights. If working by hand but not by the brake adjust it. If not working replace it. It is the Brake Lights Relay Switch.

If you have the towing package it is in the 7 pin blade connector next to your receiver hitch. and that runs back to underneath your dash for brake controller hookup. 2000 Chevy Silverado LT Ext Cab 4 dr 5.3L 4x4 Z71
The turn signal switch overrides the brake light circuit while the turn signals are on. If the switch is damaged or worn out the brake lights won't work.
All the lights on a bus are: 4 way flashers (4) cation lights ( yellow ) 4 cation lights ( Red ) 4 strobe light (top of bus) (1) back up lights (2) brake lights (4) blinkers (4) head lights (low beams) (2) head lights (high beams) (2)
Don't worry about the extra wires, the trailer with a four wire plug doesn't use them. The extra wires left over are for electric trailer brakes, a 12 volt power supply from the tow vehicle and a rarely used back up light or third brake light. The trailer with a four wire plug only uses the white wire for ground, the brown wire for the running lights, the yellow wire for the left signal and brake and the green wire for the right signal and brake.
