If you only have 5 wires to the thermostat you can eliminate the C (brown) but the brown still has to go to the outdoor unit.

The colors in (parentheses) can be different in your bundle but its best to keep some sense of normalcy.

Yellow and Blue will not attach to the air handler, they will be wire nutted directly to the yellow and blue leading to the outdoor unit.

If the AC worked, then the O/B should be already set.

Where is the emergency heat switch on a Carrier HVAC system?

If you have a heat pump it will be on the thermostat, if the thermostat for some reason has been changed to manually wire up emergency heat , remove the thermostat after you kill the power and connect the red wire too the green and white wire then turn the power on, you will have heat.

Why was power lost to a heat and air thermostat?

The power to the thermostat comes from the transformer in the furnace or air handler whichever you have. 1) the power to the furnace/AH is off, 2) the control fuse that protects the transformer is blown, 3) the transformer is defective, 4) the wire between the furnace and the thermostat got cut.

How to wire a 5 wire thermostat properly without a diagram?

depends on whether thermo used on gas or elec. unit, heat pump, strip heat, etc. red wire is hot wire. White wire goes to heat. yellow wire goes to outdoor unit contactor. green wire goes to indoor fan. blue or brown wire goes to reversing valve on outdoor unit.

Replacing air thermostat for central air conditioner?

1st thing to do is turn off power to unit. if you dont do this you risk of burning up the transformer.. all thermostat wires are color coded. if you can pull the old thermostat off and match them to the new thermostat it shouldnt be a problem hopefully the tecnician who installed the unit hooked it up right but the color code should be this- R is RED that is your power wire 24v Y is YELLOW that is your cooling wire W is WHITE that is for your heat G is GREEN that is your operating the fan Those 4 are for straight heat and cool.. if you have a heat pump there will be an aditional wires which is- O is ORANGE wire that is for the reversing vavle some units also have a common wire and that is the BLUE wire.. That would be attached to the C terminal on a stat..

You bought a rheem heat pump what gauge wire should you use for a 80amp breaker?

What is wrong if you have a digital thermostat in your house with zoned heat and air and the heat and air work fine on the thermostat upstairs but there is no heat on the downstairs?

There is either a problem with the downstairs thermostat, or the wiring from that thermostat to the unit. First check the batteries in the thermostat. Yes the digital ones have batteries. :-) Next, if that doesn;t fix it, try switching your two thermostats. Be careful to wire them exactly as they were before. If your heat now works downstairs and not upstairs, replace the thermostat. If the problem remains unchanged and you still have heat up and not down - check your thermostat wiring. The voltage is low so a simple voltmeter can be used to confirm continuity from the end where it goes into the furnace to the end where it connects to the thermostat. If the wire checks out and the problem is not the thermostat, then call a licnesed professinal - youhave bigger problems.

What type of wire runs from the pole to the heat pump outside?

What size wire to use to install a thermostat?

What do you need to do if the inside blower on your air conditioner does not cut off?

Check the thermostat. Make sure the fan switch is on auto. If it is disconnect the green wire from the control box at the air handler. This will disconnect the fan from the thermostat. If the fan continues to run, you have a stuck fan relay. If the fan shuts off, you have a bad thermostat.

Where is the wire that connects the thermostat to the temperature gage Hoping just a loose wire and don't have to change out thermostat no reading on thermostat gage even after running for 30 minutes?

what your looking for is a heat relay sensor its located right in front of the thermostat houseing just follow the top hose comming out of your radiator all the way back till it gets to the top of the thermostat and about three inches towards the front of the vehical there should be (heat sensor) looks like a bolt with a wire sticking out of it diconnect that and take it out and replace it with a new one that should solve your problem.

Where is the heat sensor on the 1976 ford 351?

The temperature sensor should be located close to the thermostat and has one wire going to it.
