Depends more on what type of gears that you have than it does on the size of the wheels. If the gear levers are the same type as on a bigger bike the 24 inch bike will shift just the same way.

When changing the bike gears my bike pedals don't work at first is this normal?

Depends a little on what kind of hubs you have, but on a healthy bike the gears should engade pretty immediately after a shift. If they don't, something probably needs to be adjusted or lubed.

How does cycling gear work for outdoors?

The idea behind multiple gears on a bicycle -- whether it's an older "10-speed" bike or a modern mountain bike with 24 gears -- is to let you change the distance that the bike moves forward with each pedal stroke.

Will 16 inch wheels fit a 2005 Chevy silverado Z71 with 17 inch stock wheels?

No 16 in wheels will not fit because of the brake caliper, but some aftermarket wheels could work. Grinding 1/16 of an inch should clear the wheel. I'm doing it to my truck today.

How does a bike work for kids?

Pretty much the same way as adult's bikes, although they're less prone to have several gears.

What is the difference between a gear and brake?

A brake shows the car/bike down until it comes to a hult/stop. A gear changes the speed the engine works at depending on what type of road you are driving on and the speed limits. If you are asking about a bike then the gear's change the speed at which you pedal at, gear 7 on a bike makes you pedal slower but you have to push harder down on the pedals, however gear 1 on a bike makes you have to pedal faster and more genitally on the pedals, - both gears really work your muscles... so if you have a bike with gears up to 7 stay on 3 or 4! Gear box = what you use to change the gears on a car. Handle bar = what you use to change the gears on a bike.

Can 18 inch rims fit a 1995 firebird with out modifications?

The 1995 Pontiac Firebird can be fitted with 18x8-inch wheels granted they are designed for this application. A tire size that will work on these wheels are 275/40/18.

Can a 26 inch bike frame use a 27 inch tire?

MAYBE - , frame size has nothing to do with tire size. Style does, and if its a mountain bike, it will not work with a 27 (road racing) wheel and tire. Brakes will not fit.

Who invented the Mountain bike gears?

Tullio Campagnolo made the first derailleur, but no one really invented MTB gears. Gears were already available for road bikes, so people started using those and then gradually changed them to work better for MTB-type riding.

How does a bike chain and gears work?

Just fine, thank you for asking. The chain transfer power from where it's generated by the pedals to the rear wheel where it can push the bike forward. The gears on a bike work just like any other set of gears, they allow you to trade power for travel - or the other way around. If spinning the pedals is too easy and you can't crank them round any faster, then a change of gears will make the rear wheel turn more WRT the pedals than before, bringing more resistance to the pedals and more speed to the bike. If turning the pedals is too heavy, then dropping a gear will make the pedals easier to turn on the cost of the rear wheel spinning a bit less for each turn of the pedals

Will the beretta's z26 wheels work on all beretta's?

Yes. The beretta z26 wheels will fit all berettas, but the tire size will be different since it's a 16 inch wheel.
